Everton Set For Clean Sweep Over Brisbane Roar

July 16th, 2010

On Saturday night, the Brisbane Roar has the opportunity to send out a message to the rest of the A-League with a win over Everton, or alternatively become the third Australian side the Merseysiders overcome.

Our ‘Tip Of The Match’ is to go with a 2-1 Everton win at $8 with Ladbrokes.com.au.

Starting with a 1-0 win over Sydney, Everton followed it up with a trip to Melbourne where they claimed a 2-0 victory over the newly founded Melbourne Hearts, so if the Roar manage to triumph they would be the only team to have victored over the English.

It is no surprise to see the Toffees at $1.57 for the win at Ladbrokes.com.au, and are certainly on target for three wins from three in line with the club’s desire to start their campaign in England’s top flight of football this season with a bang.

This fixture marks the annual “Roar Against Racism” match, and culminating the English sides pre season friendlies, will see the 22-man squad fly home after the game.

The Roar are at long odds of $5.50 to stop the Everton outfit bowling down Aussie teams, and so for loyal A-League fans, a dollar down would go a long way if the Brisbane side delivered.

Skipper Matt McKay has made it clear he hopes supporters can get to Suncorp and roar alongside the players so they can steamroll onto victory, but if you cannot do that – then why not back them online to truly pledge your Aussie allegiance.

Having lost just one of eight games, which occurred last weekend against the Wellington Phoenix in a 2-1 defeat, the Roar have been playing some solid football and are on target for an upset.

Kicking off at 7.30pm on Saturday night at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, Socceroos fans who bought their tickets months ago will be disappointed with the news Tim Cahill will not play a part in Everton’s final game.

While the Merseysiders may be missing Cahill, they managed without him for the majority of the Heart game, and so our ‘Tip Of The Match’ is to go with a 2-1 Everton win at $8 with Ladbrokes.com.au, as the Roar will push hard  due to the significance of the game, but will not overcome the Everton might.

With the countdown to the A-League and Premier League reaching its finals days, English and Australian clubs are completing pre season friendlies all over the world, and Ladbrokes.com.au are offering markets on most of them, so check out the fixtures below.
