Melbourne Heart Welcome Everton – Preview & Betting

July 13th, 2010

With the A-League promoting itself as a strong national soccer league, and the English Barclays Premiership being one of the most respected in the world, tomorrow night’s friendly fixture between Melbourne Heart FC and Everton FC is set to be anything but friendly.

Our ‘Tip Of The Match’ is to go with the odds and back an Everton 2-0 win at $7, as the inexperience the Melbourne Hearts have will surely become obvious.

Kicking off at 7.30pm AEST, the Etihad Stadium will no doubt draw a huge crowd to see some of the biggest names in English football head down under.

The game will mark the return of Australian superstar Tim Cahill, as the midfielder has not played professionally on Aussie soil since his youth career with Sydney United in 1997 – so get ready for a great welcome.

With Melbourne Heart out to prove themselves as a solid young side, debuting in the A-League for the 2010-11 Season, Everton provide the perfect challenge for them to announce themselves as a team to be reckoned with.

It is no surprise to see the Pommy side topping the odds at $1.62 with Ladbrokes.com.au, however considering their struggle in a 1-0 win over Sydney FC last Saturday, $4.75 for a Hearts win could go far.

Michael Beauchamp, who debuted for the Socceroos in the World Cup against Serbia, will be an integral cog on Wednesday – and perhaps the only man who knows how to stop the tough opponent of Cahill on form.

Centre back Simon Colosimo, an Australian international, has been named as the inaugural skipper for the Hearts, and will hope to lead his side to victory for the first time tomorrow night, which is at $10 for a 1-0 win.

Everton finished eighth in the Premier League Last season, and while these games in Australia are touted as pre season friendlies, the Toffees will want to win each one, and so it will be interesting to see how the A-League sides fair.

Topping the odds as the most likely score is a 1-0 win for Everton at $6, with the English side winning at both halftime and fulltime is $2.60.

Our ‘Tip Of The Match’ unfortunately is to go with the odds and back an Everton 2-0 win at $7, as the inexperience the Melbourne Hearts have will surely become obvious at some point within the game, especially considering some of the names the English side have in their squad.

So if you cannot get along to the Etihad, but would love to support the Hearts, or Everton – whichever your side may be, head over to Ladbrokes.com.au and check out the great range of odds and markets on offer!
