Sportsbet’s Early Odds On The 2010-11 Premiership Title Winner

May 18th, 2010

Just over a week ago, Chelsea FC were crowned Premier League title winners for the 2009-10 Season, and already have early odds on the 2010-11 Season!

Kicking off on the 14th of August, the upcoming season will be the 19th Premier League.

Kicking off on the 14th of August, the upcoming season will be the 19th Premier League and sees the addition of Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and either Blackpool or Cardiff City (to be decided on the 22nd of May) – all promoted from the Championship.

In contrast Hull City, Portsmouth and Burnley have all been relegated, and will instead be playing in the Championship next season.

With the transfer window still to go ahead, it is always hard to place a wager on who will win the Premiership early on, but there are always the top four – known as the safe bets, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

It is no surprise to see defending Champions Chelsea topping the odds to win back-to-back season at $2.75, after a fantastic finish to the season with an 8-0 mauling of Wigan Athletic at Stamford Bridge.

The London side also added the FA Cup to their 2009-10 season silverware – but will need to keep an eye on the ever-present Alex Ferguson side of Manchester United.

United are the closest behind the Carlo Ancelotti men at $3.

It was close between the two throughout the season – being neck and neck right through to the last day of the season.

The Londoners were a point ahead of their Northern rivals, with United needing a win to be in with a chance of claiming the title.

Both won in style on the day – which meant the silverware retunred to West London, the first time since 2006.

Arsenal claimed the third spot, and was out of the running in early May, however if they buy well in the transfer window, could give the others a good run for their money and are at $7 at this point.

Manchester City had a fantastic 2009-10 Season, and while many are dubious as to whether or not they can follow it up next year are at $7.50 to claim the title.

The United derby rivals finished fifth this season, a vast improvement on their 10th spot finish in the 2008-09 Season.

Liverpool FC had a disappointing season finishing seventh and just clinging onto a spot in Europe for next season so are at $11 to win the 2010-11 Premiership, and will need to vastly improve if they are to beat the other favourites.

Although unlikely, one of the more promising long odds is Tottenham Hotspur, at $41.

The side finished the season incredibly well, creating upsets against the top four up and down the country, and finished fourth qualifying for the 2010-11 UEFA Champions League Play-off Round.

While it may be early on, there are some great odds available at now – so head to the site to set up your own account!
