May 5th, 2010

This weekend over in England, the 2010 Barclays Premier League heads into the final games of the season, deciding which team will walk away with one of the most prestigious titles in the sport.

There are only two left in this year’s title race, and will not be decided until around 2.30am AEST  on Monday morning.

There are only two left in this year’s title race, and will not be decided until around 2.30am AEST  on Monday morning.

Chelsea FC are currently leading the Premier League with 83 points, while Manchester United FC are just a single point behind.

Both are at home for the final match of the season while the London side is up against 15th placed Wigan Athletic, while United face 13th placed Stoke – and all is to play for.

If Chelsea win, and they are currently at $1.12 to do so, the title race is over and the Carlo Ancelotti side will win the league.

Wigan are at $19 to win, which would keep the London side on 83 points, placing the pressure on Alex Ferguson’s side to win ($1.12) as a draw would see the two level on points, and Chelsea has the better goal difference.

When it comes down to it, the title is for Chelsea to lose rather than United to win – the current leaders can only lose the title if they are defeated at Stamford Bridge, and Ferguson’s men win.

Not surprisingly, Chelsea is currently favourite to win the title at $1.10 after finishing second two years in a row to United, who are at $6.50 to win the title.
